Wildlife & Attractions
Snakes Downunder
Said to be the hidden gem of Childers, located on a side street, Snakes Downunder is a popular local and tourist attraction. It is best to arrive at opening time to ensure you have the best opportunity to see all the shows. If you would like to hold a snake, you can do that. If you want to get up close with a koala, you can do that.
Animal attractions include a snake show, wildlife animals that you can walk up to in a large enclosure, and peer at the meerkats, crocodiles, reptiles, emu, kangaroos and more. Facilities include toilets with snacks and drinks available. Remember to bring a hat and buy some animal memorabilia.
So grab the family, or book an educational school trip, and ask us at Stewart & Sons how we can get you there in style.
Mon Repos
The Mon Repos Conservation Centre is a newly revamped educational facility based on loggerhead turtle awareness and experiences. Each year Mumma turtles nest and baby hatchlings birth, and you can see it all happen with a guided ranger tour of an evening. In the centre, you will find an interactive children’s centre with lots of facts and a cafe. Tickets sell out fast, so as soon as the season opens, we recommend you jump online and purchase tickets. Alternatively, we can assist you with a tour. Ask us how.
Flying High Bird Park
Located just north of Childers, at Apple Tree Creek, is the Flying High Bird Park. Over the years, it has undergone an enormous transformation where locals return and offer rave reviews. As you enter, you are immediately surrounded by free-flying birds that you can hand feed, and that will provide you with many photo opportunities.
As you progress through the park, you will discover little nooks filled with novelty items, decor, and other animals in larger yards. Flying High Bird Park will certainly leave you “flying high” due to the wonderful family-friendly atmosphere and experience.
If you’d like to charter a group tour, Stewart & Sons can get you there. Ask us how.
