What is Smart Ticketing?
Currently the Qld Government is trialling the use of pre-paid Smart Ticketing. Their aim is to monitor the usage and effectiveness of pre-purchasing credit and using cards as a form of credit on public transport. Then if successful and received well, they hope to roll out Smart Ticketing across other regions.
How Can I Pay?
To encourage contactless payment, trials are hoping that travellers can tap and go using their normal methods of tap-and-go payments such as their mobile phone, credit cards, debit cards, and other devices. The aim for the new payments is to make travelling more convenient and efficient. Just look for the pink rectangular box with Marlu, the smart tickety Roo on it.
What Else Do I Need To Know?
“For the first time, customers will be able to use the same payment method on Queensland public transport whether they are sight-seeing in South East Queensland or exploring one of the many picturesque regions across our great state.
“Leveraging new technology to provide a better experience for our customers is one of our key priorities.”
